What We Treat

At Carolina Integrative Therapy, we believe therapy should be centered on you, not just a diagnosis. While diagnoses can be helpful in understanding patterns, symptoms, and expectations, they never define the full picture. Our work is collaborative and individualized, with treatment plans thoughtfully tailored to your goals, needs, and lived experience.

Below are some examples of concerns and diagnoses we commonly support at

Carolina Integrative Therapy.

Anxiety
Disorders

Anxiety can show up as persistent worry, panic, or avoidance. Therapy focuses on understanding the nervous system’s responses, developing coping strategies, and fostering a sense of safety and control in daily life. EMDR and trauma-informed techniques can help process underlying stressors, while group therapy builds shared skills and support.

Identity-Related Concerns

Identity concerns often arise during periods of growth, transition, or when individuals navigate environments that challenge self-expression or belonging. Therapy offers a supportive space to explore gender, sexuality, culture, values, and self-definition, fostering authenticity, confidence, and integration across life roles.

relationship challenges

Relationship challenges often reflect deeper patterns, past experiences, or unmet needs. Our approaches consider individuals within their relational ecosystem, emphasizing empathy, communication, and meaningful connection. This includes support for non-traditional relationships.

Depressive Disorders

Depression can impact energy, motivation, and sense of connection. From a holistic perspective, it reflects the interaction of emotional, relational, biological, and environmental factors. Healing involves reconnecting with strengths, meaning, and balance in daily life. EMDR, individual therapy, and supportive group sessions can all be part of an integrative treatment plan.

Post-traumatic stress disorder
(PTSD)

PTSD may occur following exposure to a traumatic event that overwhelms the nervous system’s capacity to cope. Symptoms can include intrusive memories, avoidance, hypervigilance, or emotional numbing. Trauma-focused therapies support the brain and body in processing these experiences so they feel less intrusive and more integrated over time.

Self-Esteem & Confidence Challenges

Low self-esteem or self-doubt often reflect internalized messages, past experiences, or relational dynamics. Trauma-informed, holistic care nurtures self-compassion, personal empowerment, and connection with one’s authentic voice.

mood
Disorders

Mood disorders involve ongoing or recurring shifts in mood that may impact daily functioning, relationships, and self-perception. These experiences can be influenced by biological, psychological, and environmental factors. A holistic approach considers the full picture supporting emotional stability, insight, and coping strategies while honoring each client’s strengths and lived experience.

Substance Use & Addiction

Substance use concerns develop for many reasons, including stress, coping patterns, social factors, and neurobiological influences. A holistic, trauma-informed approach explores the role substances play in a person’s life without shame, supporting healthier coping strategies, self-understanding, and change aligned with each client’s goals.

Grief &
Loss

Grief is a natural response to loss, whether from death, separation, or life transitions. Holistic care honors grief as a process, supporting emotional expression, integration of loss, and reconnection with hope and meaning.

complex trauma
(CPTSD)

Complex trauma develops from repeated or prolonged overwhelming experiences, often within relationships. It may affect emotional regulation, self-worth, relationships, and overall sense of safety. Trauma-informed care emphasizes understanding patterns, building resilience, and reclaiming personal agency.

Religious Truma

Religious or spiritual trauma can result from environments that shame, coerce, or harm identity and autonomy. Its effects may include doubt, fear, or disrupted sense of self. Healing involves reclaiming personal values, exploring beliefs safely, and rebuilding trust in oneself and one’s inner guidance.

Chronic Stress & Burnout

Chronic stress or burnout can affect mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Holistic approaches focus on understanding sources of stress, restoring balance, and reconnecting with energy, purpose, and resilience.
