More About sam

Sam Sharman (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) who works with teens and adults across North Carolina. She primarily supports individuals who identify as female and LGBTQIA+ as they navigate life’s challenges, major transitions, and the ways those experiences can affect identity, relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being.

Sam understands that people often seek counseling during seasons of change, uncertainty, or overwhelm. Clients may come to therapy feeling disconnected from themselves, struggling to make sense of past experiences, facing relationship difficulties, or trying to find a way forward that feels more aligned with who they are. She provides a supportive space for clients to slow down, explore what is beneath the surface, and build greater self-understanding and self-compassion.

Her approach is person-centered, collaborative, and grounded in mindfulness. Sam integrates Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to meet each client where they are and tailor therapy to their individual concerns, strengths, values, and goals. Rather than assuming there is one “right” path to healing, she works alongside clients to help them identify what matters most and move toward meaningful, sustainable change.

Sam approaches counseling through a trauma-informed, multicultural lens. She recognizes that our identities, relationships, communities, and lived experiences shape how we understand ourselves and the world around us. Her work supports clients in honoring their needs in the present, reconciling with difficult experiences from the past, and fostering more authentic, connected relationships with themselves and others.

She strives to create a warm, affirming, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients can show up as they are. Sam believes that healing does not require clients to “fix” themselves; instead, it can begin with curiosity, compassion, and the opportunity to reconnect with the strengths and inner wisdom they already carry.

Sam offers both in-person and telehealth sessions across North Carolina. Contact her to schedule a session and take the first step toward the support you deserve.
