Questions about the Trauma-Focused Intensive Track? Here are some common things people want to know.
Now enrolling: Our current trauma-focused group is an LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming space designed to offer structured, trauma-centered support in an outpatient setting.
What is the Trauma-Focused Intensive Track?
The Trauma-Focused Intensive Track is a structured outpatient therapy option for adults who may need more support than weekly therapy alone can offer. It is designed to provide a steadier rhythm of care through multiple therapy touch points each week while allowing clients to remain connected to home, work, and community. We are now enrolling, and the current group is held as an LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming space grounded in trauma-centered, identity-affirming care.
Who is the trauma-focused intensive for?
This track may be a good fit for adults who are finding that weekly therapy does not feel like enough support right now, who would benefit from a steadier rhythm of care, and who want a more supported path toward healing while remaining connected to daily life. Our current group is specifically offered as an LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming space. We welcome people seeking support for trauma-related experiences, including complex trauma (C-PTSD), relational trauma, religious trauma, and more in an environment that respects identity, honors difference, and does not ask them to explain or defend who they are in order to receive care.
How do I know if I’m ready for group therapy?
You do not need to feel fully confident or fully “ready” to begin exploring group support. Part of the consultation and intake process is helping determine whether group-based work feels supportive, safe, and aligned with your needs at this time.
Will I also have individual therapy?
Depending on your needs and the structure of the track, care may include individual therapy alongside group-based support. Recommendations are made collaboratively and are based on what would be most supportive for your healing process.
Is this covered by insurance?
Coverage can vary depending on your plan, benefits, and the specific services included in your care. We accept many North Carolina insurance plans, and we are happy to help you explore benefits, fees, and access options as part of the consultation process.
How do I get started?
The first step is to reach out for a consultation. From there, we can learn more about what you are needing, answer questions about fit and logistics, and help guide you toward the most supportive care option
How is this different from weekly therapy?
Weekly therapy can be deeply supportive, but sometimes a person may benefit from more consistency and connection for a period of time. This track offers a more structured path that may include trauma-focused group therapy, individual therapy, EMDR-informed support, and skills-based work to help clients build stability, process trauma, and strengthen daily functioning.
What kinds of concerns does this track support?
This track may be helpful for adults navigating trauma-related symptoms such as overwhelm, shutdown, anxiety, dissociation, emotional dysregulation, relational difficulties, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to shift through weekly therapy alone. It may be especially supportive for people healing from complex trauma (C-PTSD) and other trauma experiences that affect daily functioning, sense of self, relationships, and nervous system regulation. Care is trauma-centered, identity-affirming, and tailored to each person’s needs.
What is the group environment like?
Our groups are trauma-centered, thoughtfully facilitated, and focused on emotional safety, connection, and healing. The current intensive track group is intentionally LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent affirming, with care taken to create a space that is welcoming, respectful, and responsive to different identities, communication styles, and support needs.
Is EMDR part of the intensive track?
Yes. Group EMDR is part of the trauma-focused curriculum for this track. EMDR-informed group work is offered in a paced, supported way, with attention to grounding, preparation, and nervous system safety as people engage trauma-related material in community.
What if I need financial support?
We partner with the Lotus Mental Health Foundation 501(c)(3) to offer sliding-scale options and scholarships for qualifying clients.
What if I’m not sure this is the right fit?
You do not have to figure that out on your own. A free 15-minute consultation can help you ask questions, talk through what kind of support you are looking for, and decide whether this track feels like the right next step.
